Mt Beauty Neighbourhood Centre is part of the Indigo 4Ms in the Community project
The last two months have been full of activity at Mt Beauty Neighbourhood Centre. “There’s a lot going on, including some great partnerships,” said Manager, Trish Dixon. “We’re really pleased to be working with the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research to host a community action group.
“The group will work together over the next 18 months to look for ways to help older people thrive by using the Indigo 4Ms tool, a tool designed to assist in decision-making and conversations relating to health and wellbeing.
This community action group is one of four that have been set up in partnership with neighbourhood houses in Corryong, Tallangatta, Beechworth and Mt Beauty as part of the Indigo 4Ms in the Community project.
There has been a range of other activities at Mt Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, including photography and barista courses.
“We’re really focusing on activity that will help connect people, as well as skills development,” said Trish. “The Talking Café, which we started through the Connecting Community in Upper Hume Pilot project has been continuing, and we’re really pleased to be part of Phase 2 of the project and further develop the Café.
“As well as some craft and music groups, we have had several community lunches, two of which have included guest speakers to talk to participants about things that are going on in the community.”
